A Hardy County judge has dismissed the criminal charges filed by the county’s sheriff against Allegheny Wood Products (AWP) owner, John Crites II. 

AWP was forced to close their doors earlier this year after over 50 years in operation due to financial issues. In closing, the company also laid off hundreds of employees and contractors.

A Grant County man charged with physically attacking and attempting to strangle a five-year- old child has been sentenced to spend up to 10 years in prison for the crime. 

The Petersburg River Hike and Bike is one step closer to completion after West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice announced that the project would receive $162,500 for its second phase of planning and construction.
