A Grant County woman is facing multiple charges after an incident on Virginia Avenue in which she allegedly exposed herself to traffic, the officer on scene and unsuspecting passersby. 

The incident began April 15, when Police Chief Mallow with the Petersburg Police Department received a call concerning a woman on Virginia Avenue that was exposing herself and yelling.

The Grant County Chamber of Commerce is accepting their annual StartUp! program applications, inviting hopeful business owners to submit their proposal and potentially be awarded funds to help make their dream become a reality. 

According to the chamber, StartUp! is a business development grant incentive program designed to encourage growth and success of small businesses located in or looking to create a business in Grant County.

Crews from the Grant County Public Service District (GCPSD) have been working overtime this past week as a series of unrelated incidents left a section of the county without water. 

The trouble began Friday, April 26, when PSD supervisor Lorie Barbe was completing her monthly water-usage reports and noticed unusual water usage in the Jordan Run Road area of the county. 

A Hardy County judge has dismissed the criminal charges filed by the county’s sheriff against Allegheny Wood Products (AWP) owner, John Crites II. 

AWP was forced to close their doors earlier this year after over 50 years in operation due to financial issues. In closing, the company also laid off hundreds of employees and contractors.

A Grant County man charged with physically attacking and attempting to strangle a five-year- old child has been sentenced to spend up to 10 years in prison for the crime. 

The Petersburg River Hike and Bike is one step closer to completion after West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice announced that the project would receive $162,500 for its second phase of planning and construction.
