Farrell Jamima (Short) Wells, 87, of Petersburg, W.Va., found eternal rest on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

Born June 29, 1937, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late William Noah Short and Dessel Ordell (Timbrook) Short.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Perry Ansel Wells in 1986; and three sisters, Fuchsia Meleo, Judy Smith, and Dessel Poland.

Farrell is survived by her four children, William Wells of Petersburg, Mitch Wells of Madison Heights, Va., Scott Wells (Sue), of Lahmansville, W.Va. and Beth Kivett (Mickey) of Petersburg; seven grandchildren, Gregory, Stephanie, Larissa, Ethan, Noelle, Brandon and Alexandra; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Farrell was a 1955 graduate of Romney High School. She was a strong-willed, hard worker who loved bowling, sports, and the color red. Her favorite activity was tending her flower gardens. She was a member of the Potomac Valley Baptist Church, Maysville, W.Va. She was a server in her early teens, sold Avon for decades, and worked at the Joan Curtis Sewing Factory, State Farm Insurance, Forestry Service, and Fort Hill Motel before retiring at age 77.

Services will be private and interment will be in the Tearcoat Cemetery, Augusta, W.Va.
