The second annual Advent Luncheon series will take place at noon at Grove Street Methodist Church in Petersburg on Thursday, Dec. 4, 11 and 18, at noon. There will be a lunch served with a short devotional message by an area pastor. The meal is by donations, and all donations will support the Grant County Ministerial Association in its work for the community.

Take-outs will be available and everyone is welcome to attend.

  • The Petersburg High School Band and Chorus will be presenting their Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Landes Arts Center.
  • Christmas caroling will be held at the Petersburg Downtown Pavilion on on Virginia Ave., on Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.
  • West Virginia Theater East will present “Miracle on 34th Street” on Dec. 19-20 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Landes Arts Center.

Join the Angel Tree program where you can sponsor a senior and make their holiday special.

Stop into Pulmonary Associates at 433 Keyser Avenue, on the hill in Petersburg, and choose an angel from the tree to fulfi ll their holiday wishes with gifts of warmth, comfort and love.

How it works: 1. Visit the store and pick a senior’s name from the tree. 2. Shop for their holiday with the provided list. 3. Wrap and drop off your gift and it will be delivered in time for Christmas. The program runs through Dec. 15.

Rosanne H. Glover will be directing a Community Chorus for the Christmas season and Veterans Day.

Anyone in the Petersburg, Moorefield and surrounding areas who enjoys
singing is welcome and encouraged to participate.

Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30, beginning Sept. 9, at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, located  between Judy’s Drug Store and the Annex Building in Petersburg

Grant County Farmers Market is open through September, from 8 a.m. to noon every Wednesday and Saturday at the city parking lot.

Grant County Historical Society board of directors meetings will be posted on the Society’s Facebook page. Members are welcome to attend.

Grant County Family Support Center events Spanish classes, Wacky Wednesdays and more. All activities are free at their facility on 101 Alt Ave., Petersburg.
