Wilson Gray Bogan, 81, of Maysville, W.Va., passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

Born Aug. 24, 1941, in Warm Springs, Va., he was a son of the late Charles Hendricks Bogan and Loma Mae (Vandevander) Bogan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward Lee Bogan, Charles William Bogan, Earl Junior Bogan, Zola Ervin Bogan and infant Roy Bogan.

He is survived by three daughters, Rachel Bogan of Rig, W.Va., Angela (Shawn) Bowen of Moorefield, W.Va. and Jennifer Bogan of Rig; Norma Bogan and Shirley Willis of Rig; and two grandsons, Christian Bowen and Jacob Bowen, both of Moorefield; one sister, Regena (Virgil) Judy of Seneca Rocks, W.Va.; three brothers, Jimmie (Carolyn) Bogan of Seneca Rocks, Roger (Debra) Bogan of Brandywine, W.Va. and Bobby (Inez) Bogan of Franklin, W.Va.; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Wilson attended Pendleton County Schools. He retired from American Woodmark after 40 years and was a member of the Lighthouse Community Church, where he enjoyed singing and serving as a deacon. His faith and love for God were a constant source of strength throughout his life. In his youth, Wilson and his brothers were avid players of softball and football. He was a fan of local sports and enjoyed attending his grandson’s ballgames.

The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, May 16, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, W.Va. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dan Sterns and Evangelist Lewis Paugh officiating. Interment will be in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.
