Wanda Lee VanMeter, 81, of Petersburg, died Thursday, Jan. 7, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born Nov. 30, 1939, in Dorcas, she was the daughter of the late Fred Vance and Viola (Crites) Vance. She was also preceded in death by one son, Donald VanMeter; two brothers, Junior Vance and Woodrow Vance; and one grandson.
Ms. VanMeter attended school in Lahmansville,  and was a member of the Maysville United Methodist Church, Maysville, and the Women’s Circle. She was a housekeeper at the Polish Pines Motel in Keyser for 17 years before retiring from Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Burns of Seneca Rocks; two sons, Lee Allen VanMeter of Romney and Edward VanMeter of Fisher; two sisters, Lucy Rotruck of Keyser and Martha Hinkle of Scherr; one brother, Dorse Vance of Fredricksburg, Va.; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was Monday with the Rev. Joseph Gerstell officiating, at the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Maysville United Methodist Church c/o Sherry Clark, 789 Knobley Road, Maysville, WV 26833.
