Ribbon cutting held for new Outpatient Physical Therapy Department

On Tuesday evening, Grant Memorial Hospital and WVU Medicine hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the expansion of the hospital’s Outpatient Physical Therapy department, celebrating another step in strengthening healthcare services for Grant County and the surrounding region.

The driver of a Potomac Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) bus reported witnessing a domestic battery incident onboard the vehicle on Wednesday September 3. The driver stated the incident occurred in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven store on Virginia Avenue in Petersburg.

Family Court Judge Jeff Roth spoke with commissioners at the latest Grant County Commission meeting, asking commissioners to consider creating a dedicated courtroom space for family court proceedings.

State Police and Sheriff’s Deputies collaborate in case involving stolen truck and property damage

A local man is facing multiple felony charges following a string of vehicle-related incidents occurring between July 11 and July 12, according to police reports filed by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police.
The initial incident occurred on the evening of July 11, when Deputy T. Feaster of the Grant County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of property destruction and an attempted vehicle theft at a residence on Big Run Road, located just off Jordan Run in Grant County.

The Petersburg High School football team made the short trip to Franklin this past Friday night.
Coach Shane Shockey had his group focused and ready to go. The Vikings jumped out to a 20-0 lead and would hang on for the win, defeating the Pendleton County Wildcats 26-21.

Looking back on Petersburg’s winning seasons in 1975 and 1980, Coach Ron Stephens was asked by the paper what he believed the secret to those successful years of high school football was. He replied, “The secret was simple: dedication.
Those kids never questioned — they just worked hard and played as one.” He recalled, “We played as a team, and as a result, we won a lot of games.”
Stephens expressed admiration for his former players’ lives off the field and the successes they have achieved. He stated “I love the people in this area and I wish them the very best...it’s like coming home.”
